Change of School of Community Health to College of Community Health in University Teaching Hospitals

This is to inform the Chief Medical Directors of University Teaching Hospitals that the Governing Board of this establishment in its 53rd meeting has approved the change of the status of School of Community Health in your institution. This important decision was made in order to accommodate more programmes the Board intends to add to the ones already running in your institutions. It is the intention of the Governing Board that all the programmes are composite in a College.

To this effect, the School of Community Health in all the accredited Teaching Hospitals shall now be called “College of Community Health”. The college will accommodate the CHO, PHC Tutors and other Community health programmes.

Further to this, the Head of the college will be called ‘Provost’. The Provost of the College must be a holder of Primary Health Care Tutors certificate with additional postgraduate Degree and current practicing license.

Thank you for your usual cooperation. Kindly accept as usual the assurances of my warmest regards and esteems.
